GTA 6 Extended Look: What Rockstar Actually Showed
Rockstar finally gave GTA 6 room to breathe: 26 minutes and 48 seconds of in-game PS5 footage showing Jason, Lucia, crime, movement and daily life across Leonida.
This is the ViceSix breakdown of what the presentation actually supports — without turning every frame into a “confirmed feature.”

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look
Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. Embedded playback may be limited by YouTube age restrictions, so the primary action opens Rockstar's official upload.

What changed?
BIGGEST SHIFT
GTA 6 now has sustained gameplay evidence behind the cinematic promise.
Trailer 2 mixed gameplay and cutscenes. The Extended Look gives us a much longer in-game view of how missions, movement, combat, activities and character transitions are presented.
JASON + LUCIA
Their partnership is part of the way the game plays.
Official footage presents movement between Jason and Lucia during active sequences rather than treating their relationship as story material alone.
LEONIDA
The world is being presented as somewhere to live in, not just drive through.
The showcase spends substantial time on activities and ordinary interactions alongside crime, chases and missions.
STILL UNKNOWN
A long showcase still isn't a launch review.
It does not settle every question about final performance modes, accessibility, PC, install requirements or the complete launch experience.
The important difference: this wasn't just another short trailer.
Rockstar describes the entire presentation as captured from in-game PlayStation 5 footage. That gives the Extended Look much more evidentiary value than trying to infer mechanics from a few seconds of cinematic editing.
But “captured in-game” still does not mean every moment should be treated as unscripted free-play.
Jason and Lucia look like a gameplay partnership, not just a story pairing.
The footage presents transitions between Jason and Lucia during active sequences. That supports the idea that their partnership affects how sequences are played, but it does not establish a complete switching ruleset.
What we still don't know
- Every restriction on switching
- How often missions lock the player to one character
- Full free-roam rules
- Every relationship-system consequence
Crime appears to demand more thought after the first shot is fired.
Official footage visibly shows robberies, combat, escapes, police response and characters reacting during active sequences. It supports a more involved presentation of crime, but the footage alone does not prove every claimed identification, witness or persistent-recognition system.
ViceSix treats those deeper system claims as unconfirmed unless Rockstar states them or they are clearly demonstrated.
Rockstar spent a surprising amount of time showing what happens between crimes.
Boating, exercise, basketball, jet skis, kayaking, racing, nightlife and water activities all appear in the presentation.
The important signal is breadth, not a checklist. Rockstar appears intent on making Leonida feel useful when the player isn't following a mission marker.
The line between gameplay and authored presentation looks deliberately thin.
The showcase moves repeatedly between player-looking sequences, dialogue, action and cinematic framing. That is visually impressive, but ViceSix will not label individual moments as fully player-controlled unless the evidence supports it.
NOT ANNOUNCED / NOT SETTLED
26 minutes still left important questions unanswered.
- PC launch date
- Complete performance-mode details
- Final install size
- Complete accessibility feature list
- GTA Online successor details
- GTA Online transfer rules
- Every mechanic's depth or frequency
- A worldwide simultaneous unlock time
VICESIX VERDICT
The Extended Look increases confidence in the game — but doesn't remove every reason to wait.
Best for: Players deciding whether the new gameplay evidence is enough to commit before reviews.
- It gives far more gameplay context than the earlier trailers.
- It shows the Jason and Lucia partnership in motion.
- It shows significant world and activity breadth.
- It still isn't an independent launch review.
