The reconstruction incorporates the August 18 leaked map. Landmass, coastlines, urban areas, beaches and county borders were adjusted.

    Why it matters

Large geometry changes can shift how the community understands the size and relationship of Leonida’s major areas.

  2. YANIS community map snapshot

    Road/building detail

Roads and buildings were added across places including Vice City, Key Lento, Hamlet, Capri and Ambrosia. Vice City building detail increased. Helipads and road signs/routes were added in parts of the map. Alleys were added around areas including Vice Beach, Downtown and Southside.

    Why it matters

More road and building detail makes the reconstruction more useful for understanding how districts may connect.

  3. YANIS community map snapshot

    Elevation update

Elevation mapping was updated using the leaked heightmap and rescaled.

    Why it matters

This changes the community’s current picture of Leonida’s terrain and vertical scale, especially outside the flatter urban areas.

  4. YANIS community map snapshot

    Camera locations

Camera locations from the Extended Look / available source material were added. Labels were moved, confirmed or added. “Park” and “Industrial” areas were added.

    Why it matters

Matching source viewpoints to the reconstruction helps the community test where known scenes may sit on the wider map.

  5. YANIS community map snapshot

    Interiors

Leonida Penitentiary's layout was improved. Crosstown safehouse and Effluvia interiors were added.

    Why it matters

These additions help track known interior spaces, but do not establish how accessible they will be in the final game.

  6. YANIS community map snapshot

    Grid

The reconstruction adopted a 1 km x 1 km grid and changed to approximately 21k x 20k map units.

    Why it matters

A consistent 1 km grid makes rough distance comparisons across the reconstruction much easier.

GTA 6 Map: What We Know Right Now

The GTA 6 map covers much more than Vice City. Rockstar has set the game across the fictional state of Leonida, with Vice City at its centre but several very different destinations stretching beyond the city.

Rockstar has currently profiled six major Leonida destinations: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.

The ViceSix GTA 6 interactive map above goes much deeper than those six names. It currently contains 2,919 mapped locations, covering everything from major areas down to individual roads, buildings, businesses and landmarks.

That does not mean all 2,919 locations are Rockstar-confirmed.

The current map combines several layers of evidence: locations Rockstar has publicly shown or named, geography taken from leaked material, and community reconstruction work that connects those pieces into a usable top-down GTA 6 map. Some locations have much stronger evidence than others.

That distinction matters because Rockstar still has not published the final official top-down map of Leonida.

So the map you see here should be treated as the best detailed reconstruction we can currently build and review—not the finished in-game map.

What has become much clearer, though, is the overall shape of GTA 6’s world. Rockstar has now shown multiple parts of Leonida, and recent developer comments have finally given us a much stronger idea of how large the GTA 6 map is compared with GTA 5.

Vice City Is Only One Part of the GTA 6 Map

Vice City gets most of the attention because it is GTA 6’s biggest and most recognisable city, but it is not the whole map.

Rockstar describes Leonida as extending beyond the neon streets of Vice City, and its official material now gives separate attention to the Keys, wetlands, smaller coastal settlements, industrial areas and the state’s northern wilderness.

That makes the structure of the GTA 6 map very different from simply rebuilding Miami at a larger scale.

Vice City provides the dense urban centre. The Leonida Keys stretch the map through island communities and long coastal routes. Grassrivers represents the wetland side of the state. Port Gellhorn gives Leonida another populated coastal destination away from Vice City. Ambrosia brings a more industrial and inland character, while Mount Kalaga National Park pushes the world into a large natural area in the north.

For someone looking at a Vice City map, this is one of the most important things to understand: Vice City is a location inside Leonida, not another name for the entire GTA 6 map.

That also explains why current community maps look so much larger and more varied than the Vice City seen in older GTA games.

For a deeper breakdown of each named destination rather than the map itself, the existing GTA 6 Locations guide should remain the main region-by-region reference.

Major GTA 6 Areas on the Leonida Map

Vice City

Vice City is the main metropolitan centre of GTA 6 and the most densely represented area on the current map.

Rockstar’s official material shows a modern city built around beaches, high-rise districts, neighbourhoods, nightlife, waterways, roads and commercial areas. The Miami influence is obvious, but the new Vice City covers far more than the beachfront imagery associated with the older games.

For map users, Vice City is also where smaller searchable locations become particularly useful. Instead of treating the city as one giant marker, the interactive map can take you down to individual roads, hotels, businesses and landmarks spread across the wider urban area.

Leonida Keys

The Leonida Keys are the island chain south of the mainland and one of the clearest Florida-inspired parts of the GTA 6 map.

Rockstar has also tied Jason directly to this area. His official profile says that after leaving the Army he ended up in the Keys working for local drug runners, while Brian Heder is described as a long-time smuggler operating there.

Because of that connection, the Keys matter for more than geography. Several locations associated with Jason’s early story are mapped there, including the community placement of the property where he is living before the main events of the game.

Grassrivers

Grassrivers is Leonida’s wetland area and clearly draws from the Florida Everglades.

Official imagery shows waterways, airboats, wildlife and broad areas of marsh rather than dense city streets. That immediately makes Grassrivers one of the easiest parts of Leonida to distinguish on the wider GTA VI map.

For players using an interactive map, that difference matters because the region is organised around waterways and isolated locations rather than the tight road grids found in Vice City.

Port Gellhorn

Port Gellhorn gives Leonida another major populated area outside Vice City.

Rockstar presents it as a more worn-down coastal destination, with a very different visual identity from the wealth, nightlife and dense skyline of Vice City. Current mapping around Port Gellhorn includes smaller settlements, roads, businesses and several community-identified landmarks.

Its existence also makes the full GTA 6 map feel less dependent on one central city. Travelling away from Vice City does not simply mean entering empty countryside; other populated areas sit across Leonida too.

Ambrosia

Ambrosia represents another side of Leonida, with official material leaning more heavily into industry, agricultural land and smaller settlements.

That contrast is useful when looking at the whole Leonida map. Vice City, the Keys, Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia are not simply copies of the same urban environment placed around the state.

The current reconstruction also contains a growing number of mapped roads and buildings around Ambrosia, which is one reason the area has become more detailed as new geographical information has appeared.

Mount Kalaga National Park

Mount Kalaga National Park sits at the opposite end of the GTA 6 map from the tropical city-and-island image most associated with Vice City.

Rockstar’s material positions it as Leonida’s major wilderness destination, with forested and more remote areas along the state’s northern side.

Its presence is important to understanding the scale of Leonida. GTA 6 is not just expanding sideways from Vice City; Rockstar has built a state containing urban, coastal, wetland, industrial and wilderness environments.

Notable GTA 6 Locations Already Mapped

The six big destinations are only the top level of the map.

The main advantage of a searchable GTA 6 interactive map is being able to jump directly to a smaller location without manually scanning thousands of markers.

ViceSix currently has 2,919 mapped points, ranging from major destinations to smaller roads, buildings, businesses and landmarks.

A few locations are particularly interesting before launch.

Where Is Jason’s Safehouse in GTA 6?

Jason’s house is already one of the more obvious location searches around GTA 6.

Rockstar confirms that Jason is living in the Leonida Keys and working around local drug runners. Brian Heder’s official profile adds an important detail: Brian allows Jason to live rent-free at one of his properties as long as Jason helps him with local shakedowns.

That property has appeared in official GTA 6 material, so the house itself is not simply a community invention.

The important distinction is its exact map position.

Current community mapping places Jason’s safehouse around the Key Lento area of the Leonida Keys, which makes Key Lento the useful place to look if you are searching for Jason’s house on the GTA 6 map.

Rockstar has not, however, published a final top-down coordinate for Jason’s safehouse. The Key Lento pin is therefore community placement based on the available material rather than an official Rockstar map marker.

That is how ViceSix should continue treating it until the final in-game map settles the location.

Leonida Penitentiary

Leonida Penitentiary is one of the most important story-linked locations already established by Rockstar.

Lucia’s official material establishes her connection to Leonida Penitentiary before the events that bring her together with Jason.

That makes the prison a useful map location without needing to speculate about missions that may take place there.

Community reconstruction work has also refined the prison’s layout over time as more source material has become available.

Gellhorn International Raceway

The current map dataset also contains Gellhorn International Raceway near the Port Gellhorn side of Leonida.

This is a good example of why the evidence level of individual map pins matters. The raceway is a community-mapped location rather than a Rockstar-published top-down coordinate, so the map can help you find the reconstructed location without presenting that pin as final.

As the game gets closer to launch, locations like this are exactly the kind of points that can move, gain better names or receive stronger evidence.

Smaller Vice City Locations

Vice City contains the largest concentration of individual mapped points.

That includes roads, hotels, businesses, public buildings, commercial areas and other landmarks that would be difficult to find by looking at a statewide Leonida map alone.

This is where search becomes more useful than simply adding more pins.

Someone searching for a particular GTA 6 hotel, business or landmark should be able to type its name, jump directly to that area and then see the surrounding part of Vice City rather than manually zooming through hundreds of markers.

GTA 6 Leaked Map: What Did the August 2026 Leak Reveal?

Material presented as a full GTA 6 map of Leonida circulated in August 2026 alongside leaked gameplay material.

The important distinction is that Rockstar has not publicly released that map as the final official Leonida map.

For mapping projects, though, the August material still had a major effect.

The current community reconstruction used by ViceSix was updated around that material. The reconstruction adjusted landmass, coastlines, urban areas, beaches and borders; added roads and buildings across areas including Vice City, Key Lento, Hamlet, Capri and Ambrosia; and refined several named locations.

That is the real value of the GTA 6 leaked map for someone using this page.

It did not suddenly give us a guaranteed final map.

Instead, it provided another large piece of geographical evidence that community mappers could compare with years of work based on Rockstar trailers, screenshots and other material.

The leak helped make the relationship between major areas easier to understand. It added more context to coastlines and road networks and gave community projects more material for placing settlements and buildings.

But it remains possible that parts of that geography changed during development or will differ from the final November 2026 release.

So when ViceSix refers to the GTA 6 leaked map, the correct way to read it is as influential pre-release evidence—not Rockstar’s final official Leonida map.

How Big Is the GTA 6 Map?

This is one question where we now have far better information than we did earlier in development.

Game Informer’s September 29, 2026 GTA VI cover story included comments from Aaron Garbut, Rockstar North’s head of development and co-studio head. Garbut described Leonida as Rockstar’s largest map yet and put it at about twice the size of GTA V’s map.

That is much more useful than the precise square-mile estimates that have circulated around fan communities.

Rockstar still has not published an official square-mile or square-kilometre measurement for Leonida. We also do not have a final measured playable area or Rockstar’s finished top-down map.

So “about twice GTA V” is currently the strongest sensible answer to how big is the GTA 6 map?

The other important part of the developer discussion is that Rockstar is not treating size as the only goal. GTA 6 is also being built around greater density, interaction, detail and interiors.

That matters because two open worlds with the same land area can feel completely different.

A large empty road between two places does not offer the same kind of density as a city block full of buildings, alleys, rooftops and interiors. GTA 6 appears to be increasing both the footprint of the world and the amount packed into parts of it.

For now, the useful answer is:

Leonida is Rockstar’s largest map yet and is roughly twice the size of GTA V’s map, but Rockstar has not released an exact official area measurement.

GTA 6 Map vs GTA 5

The easiest way to understand that size difference is to compare how the two worlds are structured.

GTA V is centred heavily around Los Santos, with Blaine County and large rural areas occupying the rest of southern San Andreas.

GTA 6 still has one dominant city in Vice City, but Rockstar has given much more individual identity to the other parts of Leonida.

The Leonida Keys are their own island environment. Grassrivers gives the state a large wetland area. Port Gellhorn creates another populated coastal destination. Ambrosia adds a different inland and industrial character. Mount Kalaga gives the map a major northern wilderness area.

That makes GTA 6 look less like “one city plus countryside” and more like a state built around several recognisable destinations.

The roughly two-times-GTA-V comparison gives us a broad scale, but exact fan-made overlays should still be treated carefully.

Until Rockstar releases the final map, measurements showing that GTA 6 is an exact percentage wider, taller or larger than GTA V still depend on reconstructed geography.

The Real Florida Behind the GTA 6 Map

Leonida is fictional, but Florida is the obvious foundation underneath it.

Rockstar presents Leonida as its exaggerated version of the Sunshine State.

The clearest real-life comparison is Vice City and Miami.

The skyline, beaches, waterfront hotels, nightlife and surrounding urban culture all draw heavily from South Florida.

The Leonida Keys clearly mirror the Florida Keys, with island communities connected by long roads and bridges.

Grassrivers fills the Everglades role, using broad wetlands, waterways, airboats and wildlife to create a very different environment from Vice City.

Other places across Leonida appear to mix inspiration from multiple Florida towns, industrial areas, highways and coastal communities rather than copying one city exactly.

That is the best way to think about GTA 6 real-life locations.

Some landmarks may have a very obvious real-world counterpart. Others may combine several references, move them around or change them heavily enough to fit Rockstar’s version of Florida.

A GTA 6 Florida map is therefore useful for comparison, but Leonida should not be expected to line up perfectly with the real state.

How Accurate Is the Current GTA 6 Map?

The simplest answer is: very detailed, but not final.

There are three broad layers behind the current reconstruction.

The strongest layer is Rockstar’s own material: official screenshots, trailers, location pages, character profiles and the Extended Look.

The second layer is leak-derived information, including geographical material that circulated during August 2026.

The third layer is community reconstruction. Mappers compare visible roads, buildings, coastlines and landmarks and then connect individual pieces of evidence into a complete top-down map.

That process is why a community GTA 6 map can contain thousands of points even though Rockstar has not published thousands of named locations.

It is also why not every point should be treated equally.

Some mapped locations are directly named by Rockstar. Some are strongly identifiable from official footage. Others depend on leaked information or community interpretation.

ViceSix therefore does not treat the 2,919 mapped locations as 2,919 Rockstar-confirmed locations.

The purpose of the map is to make the current reconstruction useful while staying clear about what it actually represents.

Latest GTA 6 Map Changes

The useful question here is not which community-map version number changed. It is what changed on the map that somebody exploring Leonida would actually notice.

Leonida’s Coastline and Regional Layout Were Revised

The reconstruction changed substantially after the August 2026 map material appeared.

Community mappers revised landmass, coastlines, beaches, urban areas and regional boundaries to better fit the new geographical evidence.

Changes at that scale matter because they can alter how major destinations appear to relate to each other on the full Leonida map.

Vice City and Other Areas Gained More Road and Building Detail

The same reconstruction update added roads and buildings across places including Vice City, Key Lento, Hamlet, Capri and Ambrosia, while Vice City itself received more detailed building coverage.

That is much more useful to someone searching the GTA 6 map than a small visual change to the basemap.

More street and building detail means more individual places can eventually be found directly rather than treating an entire city or district as one point.

More Named Places and Interiors Were Added or Refined

Community work also refined the Leonida Penitentiary layout and added several mapped interior locations.

An interior appearing on a reconstruction does not mean Rockstar has confirmed that it will be freely enterable during normal gameplay.

It simply means the available evidence is strong enough for the community map to associate that interior with a particular location.

This is also the reason Your Map Watch exists.

Instead of checking thousands of locations every time the reconstruction changes, you can follow a place or region on the map. When ViceSix reviews a meaningful change that actually affects something you follow, Map Watch can surface it when you return.

What We Still Don’t Know About the GTA 6 Map

For all the detail now available, several major questions remain open.

Rockstar has still not released its final official top-down map of Leonida.

We do not know the exact final road network, the final borders of every area or the final position of every location currently shown on a reconstruction.

There is no official square-mile or square-kilometre measurement.

We also do not know the final number of buildings players will be able to enter. Greater interior density does not mean every mapped building will have an accessible interior.

Some community-mapped roads, buildings and landmarks could move or disappear completely in the finished game.

And the current 2,919 mapped locations should not be mistaken for the total number of locations that GTA 6 contains.

That number describes the current ViceSix dataset—not the final contents of Rockstar’s world.

Once GTA 6 releases, this same page can move from a pre-release reconstruction toward a proper in-game Leonida map based on the finished world.

GTA 6 Map FAQ
